While many of us look forward to the holiday season, more than one-third of U.S. adults report feeling stressed during the holiday season. The Christmas season is so busy that it can be exhausting.

This is also true when you factor in the trips you have to take to visit friends and family, attend work parties, shop, wrap gifts, and take care of children.

Although we are disappointed, we are happy to know that there are concrete steps you can take to ensure you enjoy this Christmas season.

Check out these tips on how to better manage your mental health while on vacation.

1. Relax

Holidays can be stressful enough without causing mental illness. Therefore, if you are diagnosed with any mental illness, it is important to address your physical needs first.

It’s a good idea to take a break from social media and other activities that cause anxiety, such as shopping. If you’re obsessed with gift ideas, try writing down everything you want to buy instead of looking online.

2. Get some sleep

Lack of sleep during the holidays makes everything worse. Lack of sleep during a hectic holiday can affect your mood, memory, concentration, and even your immune system.

Get enough rest by going to bed early and getting up early. Also, avoid caffeine after noon. You might wake up later. Getting quality sleep every day will help you concentrate, become sharper, and be more attentive.
